We love to read!

Hubby recently sent me an article that highlights some of the many benefits of parents reading out loud to their children.  It motived me to introduce our kids to more classic books that were mentioned in the article and in a list of 100 top children's books that a friend shared on pinterest.  I reserved a bunch at the library and we headed there today to pick them up.  We came home with our arms full!

I recognized one of the books we checked out because at the end of our time at our previous church it was in our kids' nursery room.  I was absolutely amazed that my daughter recognized it too!  She said, "we read this in the nursery at our Kentucky church."  She would have been barely two years old when it was read to her there, and I'm sure it couldn't have been read all that often.  And it was almost 7 months ago!  Her memory seriously amazes me.  Here she is with the book of choice.  I went ahead and added it to our wish list, since it clearly made such an impression on her.

Our son is pretty attached to books too, especially if they're about trains, airplanes, fire trucks or construction vehicles.  Here he is "reading" from memory one of his favorite library books -- My Fire Engine.
