Recent news reports from the Democratic Republic of Congo are concerning. A rebel group called M23, which seems to originate in the neighboring country of Rwanda, has taken over the city of Goma by force. Some families using our adoption agency have children referred to them from Goma. The army is threatening to move toward the capital city, Kinshasha, next, with the intent to overthrow the president. This would be detrimental for the country, and of course for adoptions from the country. Please pray with us for peace!
This is the latest article about the M23 soldiers. A notable quote states "The rebel threat has renewed fears that the 1997-2003 war in DR Congo, during which some five million people died, could reignite."
