Born in a Manger

The two little newborns that we hope the Lord has entrusted to us were both abandoned by their birth parents.  We don't know exactly what that means.  Maybe we'll find out over time.  We hope their birth moms left them at the door of the orphanage so they could get care that these desperate women knew they couldn't provide.  But even if they didn't, we know God says in His word, "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?  Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.  Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me. "  (Isaiah 49:15-16)

A dear friend sent me an email today that just said "The best gift was found in a manger."  I know she had our kids in mind.  What a vivid picture!  Praise the Lord for the greater understanding He is giving us through abandoned orphans about the majesty and humility of Christ, our Savior.
